What Does it Mean to Be Beautiful?

What if beauty has nothing to do with what we see in the mirror?

For years, I have worked in the beauty industry helping women feel confident and cared for through makeup artistry, brow services, and classes. I truly believe this work has been a gift from God and a part of his provision for my family. Yet over the years, He began teaching me that beauty is about so much more than what we see on the outside. The most transformative lesson I learned about beauty didn’t come from my makeup chair, it came through prayer, healing, and my relationship with him.

Before Be Beautiful ever became a business, God was teaching me lessons about the heart that would later become the foundation of what Be Beautiful truly means.

The more time I spent with God, the more I began to see beauty differently. I realized that many of us spend so much energy trying to look beautiful while never addressing the wounds, insecurities, fears, and broken places within.

I know this because I was one of those women.

Looking beautiful can be achieved through makeup, clothing, hairstyles, and enhancements. But BEING beautiful is something much deeper. It is found in a heart transformed by God.

True Beauty is the posture of the heart as it is transformed by God.

Scripture reminds us:

“Do not let your adornment be merely outward—arranging the hair, wearing gold, or putting on fine apparel—rather let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God.” — 1 Peter 3:3-4

This verse is not condemning beauty or how we present ourselves. Rather, it reminds us that our greatest beauty is not found in what we wear or how we look, but in the condition of our hearts before God.

Through prayer journaling and communing with God, He began revealing areas of my heart that needed healing, growth, and surrender. As He transformed my heart, He also transformed the way I viewed myself and others. I discovered that true beauty is revealed through the posture of the heart.

Scripture tells us:

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control.” — Galatians 5:22-23

These fruits are not produced through our own strength. They are the evidence of God's work within us. As we surrender our lives to Him, He begins shaping our character and producing fruit that reflects His nature.

The Lord reminds us:

“Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” — 1 Samuel 16:7

Being beautiful is allowing God to transform your heart until His character becomes visible through your life. Over time, that transformation begins to speak louder than your appearance ever could. It shows up in the way you love, forgive, serve, encourage, and treat others.

Today, when I think about beauty, I no longer think first about outward appearance. I think about a heart that has been transformed by God. A heart that loves, forgives, serves, and trust him through every season of life. That is the kind of beauty that never fades.

Beauty begins within, but it does not stay hidden. A transformed heart will always reveal itself through its fruit.

Welcome to the Be Beautiful journey.

My prayer is that through my story, perspective, and lessons, you'll discover that true beauty has never been about perfection; it has always been about the transformation of the heart.

Through that transformation, may you discover your true identity in Christ and the Beautiful life He created you to live.💛
